Chair: Short Course Yards season for 2005: UCLA Saturday April
2(), Loyola Marymount Sunday April 17, SPMA SCY Regionals at Saddleback April 22-24, 2005. SCY USMS Nationals May 19-22, in Ft. Lauderdale. Long Course Meters meets: May 8(Mother’s Day)
at Santa Clarita, Southern California Charity Classic May 21, May 22 Senior
Games(50 plus) at Pasadena, June 11 at Las Vegas, July 9 at Santa Barbara, and
USMS Long Course Nationals at Mission Viejo August 11, 12, 13, 14, & 15. (Note:
SPMA will not be having a long course regionals because Mission
Viejo will be hosting USMS Nationals.) August 7 Five Mile
Open Water Championship in La Jolla,
September 11 La Jolla
Rough Water Swim. The USMS convention
this year will be September 14-18 in Greensboro North
Carolina.
Treasurer’s report: The treasurer’s report was submitted in
writing and it is included in these minutes.
Registrar’s report: Julie Heather submitted
her report in writing and it is included in these minutes. A discussion was held on the bounced check s problem
and a new policy was approved. MSP Any
swimmer who bounces a check will be suspended if payment, including a $15.00
returned check fee, is not returned within ten days of being notified.
Open
water: Shannon Sullivan is half way through the 2004 list
of open water swims. Shannon
also reported that the lifeguards are planning on having swims this year.
Marketing: Tom Boyd submitted his report in writing and
it is included with these minutes.
New
Business: Voting was
held for the 2005 USMS convention delegates with Jeff
Moxie withdrawing his name for consideration. The delegates
for 2005 are as follows: Errol Graham, Trisha Commons,
Julie Heather, Wayne McCauley, Tom Boyd, Connie Barrett, and Mark Moore. The first alternate will be Michael
Collins, and the second alternate will be Tom Trapp. The automatic delegates for this year’s
convention are as follows: Steve
Schofield, Mary Hull, Jessica Seaton, Michael Heather, Lucy Johnson, and
Shannon Sullivan.
The 2005 USMS National Elections Nominations are due
April 30. Michael Heather will be applying for the position of USMS Vice
President of National Operations as Jeff
Moxie has withdrawn his name.
The ASCA clinic is in Ft. Lauderdale
from September 6-11. MSP to pay
the registration fee only ($179.00) to the ASCA clinic for SPMA’s Coach of the
Year.
MSP
to have the same policy on bounced checks for registration to also apply for
meet hosts.
