Minutes of the May 18, 2006 Meeting

 

Call to Order: 8:04pm

Attending:   Connie Barrett, Mo Chambers, Errol Graham, Julie Heather, Michael Heather, Allen Highnote, Mary Hull, Wayne McCauley, Mark Moore, Jeff Moxie, Steve Schofield, Jessica Seaton, Shannon Sullivan, Bekah Wright

 MSP to approve the minutes the March 23, 2006 meeting

Officer Reports:

Chair: Wayne will post his report on the website. MSP to authorize up to $100.00 for Wayne to purchase as many years as he can for our SPMA internet access.

Vice Chair: Short Course Yards schedule is as follows: Long Course Meters meets are as follows: Mission Viejo May 21, Las Vegas June 24, Santa Barbara July 8, and the Zone meet at Mission Viejo July 14, 15, and 16.  Worlds will be August 3-17at Stanford (swimming events are August 4-11) and the USAS Convention will be in Dearborn Michigan from September 13-17, 2006.  The schedule for Short Course Meters is as follows: Mission Viejo October 1, UCLA October 14, Santa Clarita November 4, Turkey Shoot at Pierce College November 19, SCM Regionals at Belmont (hosted by the Long Beach Grunions) December 1,2,and  3.

Treasurer’s report: MSP to approve Jeff’s report as written (also posted on the website).

Registrar’s report: Julie has submitted her report in writing and it will be posted on our website.  MSP To give a $50.00 discount for those meet hosts that have to pay a $100.00 sanction fee, if meet processing is done using Hy-Tek, Robert Mitchell, or other formats approved by the SPMA Top Ten person and USMS registration numbers are included in the electronic results.

Awards: Jim McConica was awarded the 2005 SPMA swimmer of the award at the 2006 Short Course Regionals in Santa Clarita.  Victor Hecker, coach of the Las Vegas Masters, has been named the 2005 SPMA Coach of the Year.

Fitness: Jessica wrote an article for the July/August newsletter.

Open water: MSP to issue Seal Beach a sanction at a cost of $200.00 with a refund of $175.00 if proper registration and results formats are followed.

Old business: MSP to name Allen Highnote as our last convention delegate.  MSP to adjust the hotel costs for convention when the correct rates are known.

New Business: The USAS convention in 2007 will be in Anaheim.  We will need to start planning our involvement at the convention.  Wayne has two nominations (Tom Boyd and Mo Chambers) for the Dorothy Donnelly Award.
