of the August 29, 2002 Meeting
Call to Order: by the Chair Wayne McCauley at 7:45 p.m.

Minutes of
the June 13, 2002 meeting were approved as written.
Officer Reports:
Chair Wayne McCauley:
Wayne will post his report on the SPMA website
Vice Chairs report: The
Rafael Montijo LCM meet will be held on Sunday September 29, 2002, and the
Turkeyshoot (SCM) at Pierce College in Woodland Hills will be on Sunday
November 24, 2002. UCLA will try and
have a meet the 1st or 2nd of November. At this time Short Course Championships have
not been bid on yet. There is a pool
being built in Henderson Nevada and they would like to host a meet in late July
2003.
Secretary’s report: no report
Treasurer’s report: Please see the attached
report as Jeff submitted his report in writing. Jeff’s report was approved as
written
Member at Large report:
no report
Registrar’s report: MSP New
clubs will be offered labels for unattached swimmers within 10 miles of their
pool. In addition, any exiting club can request labels once a year of
unattached swimmers within a ten-mile radius of their pool provided they supply
the Registrar with the zip code. Julie submitted her report in writing and it
is included in these minutes. MSP
to accept the Registrar’s/Top Ten and Records report.
Awards Committee: No
report.
Open Water Report: the point system for SPMA swims was
discussed, and Lucy was advised to spend the $500.00 to provide appropriate
awards to those who have earned them. MSP
to accept Lucy’s report as given.
Sports Medicine: Jessica
would like to know when the deadlines are for the SPMA newsletter, so that she
can prepare articles for the SPMA newsletter.
Old Business: None.
New Business:
Julie made a proposal (See Registrar’s report) to become the SPMA newsletter
editor. MSP to pay Julie $600.00 for
three issues per year and up to $800.00 for more per year.
MSP
the Executive committee will make a final decision of short course meters
championships. Bid for short course yards will be at the next meeting.
SPMA reviewed the proposed changes to the USMS
rulebook that will be voted on at the upcoming convention.
